Lowell Lake State Park in Londonderry VT is a fun family time place to spend a day hiking, fishing, canoeing or kayaking. We spent the afternoon at Lowell Lake after visiting Hamilton Falls in Jamaica in the morning. Lowell Lake is a quiet setting where you can take a 3 mile hike around the lake or a shorter stroll on woodsy trails. There are many picnic tables throughout the park but getting one lakeside is a bonus. The park rangers were most helpful with parking and scouting an empty picnic table. The only facilities are the infamous Portoilet! Maybe should have put this under tips.
Many people bring paddle boards, kayaks and canoes. If you feel like dropping a line we recommend using small worms as bait as the local perch and pumpkin fish are fun for the kiddos and adults to catch.
On the way back to Mount Snow we stopped in Jamaica and perused the local general store and new barbecue take out! Delish!

Tip: The parking lot can fill up so get there early on busy weekends. There are no built-in grills but you can bring a small gas grill.
Tip: Bring bug spray in May for black fly season.
